Q Is secure car parking available?

A  Each apartment will have its own dedicated parking space.  16 of the spaces are secure behind a gate at the rear of the property and four are at the side of the scheme but will have bollards at the end to prevent people parking there when not in use.

Q I’m already running an established business; am I still eligible to apply for a Bohouse tenancy?

A  Bohouse tenancies are available to anyone wishing to live and work from home - as self employed people in creative, digital, media sectors.  Each tenancy application will be considered on a case by case basis.  We have deliberately not set any more specific criteria as we may inadvertently put off an ideal Bohouse tenant!

Q How much are my utility bills likely to be?

A  We can’t provide exact costs as this depends on usage and energy efficiency of appliances:

Gas charges are included as an amenity within the service charge. This is because there is an air source heat pump and solar hot water panels that will kick in before the gas boiler is required.

Water will be metered so costs will depend on how much is used. There is only a shower in the property, low flush toilets and water saving taps, which should reduce usage.  The type of washing machine you have, how many showers you take will affect how much water is consumedand therefore the amount billed.

Electricity – 75% of the light fittings are energy efficient which should help keep bills low, however this will depend on how long you have lights on for, if you leave things on stand by or if you have energy efficient appliances etc.

Council tax charge is yet to be confirmed.  We are waiting for an assessment from Middlesbrough Council who will rate the properties which will also include a charge for business use.  We will update the website once we have an update.

Q I have seen the floor plan on the website. Is it possible to select a particular apartment?

A  The floor plans are on the website to give you an idea of the range and layout of apartments available.  If your application for a Bohouse tenancy was successful, apartments will be allocated depending in the amount of working space and living space required and availability at the time.

Q  Is internet access provided?

A  You will need to make your own arrangements for setting up internet access to your apartment – allowing you to shop around for the best deal for you.  However, we have been approached by an internet provider who has an extremely competitive package for Bohouse tenants.  We will be able to give you more information about this when you sign up for your tenancy.
